Pietro Salera

The Little Buddha Illustrator

The Little Buddha story was inspired by a remarkable line drawing that Pietro Salera created on a small easel, entitled the “Buddha board.”

Pietro Salera was born in Rome, Italy, on June 30, 1962.

Revealing exceptional talent early on, at the age of eight Pietro began to devote himself to artistic painting, using tempera on canvas. This creative expression continued to grow as did his passion and fascination for the arts.

Pietro began to cultivate his natural artistic ability by studying technical design and architecture. This not only benefitted Pietro’s future career but resulted in his ability to draw and design with exquisite precision. This training still exerts influence over his artistic style today. Pietro’s unique line work is extraordinary, most clearly evident in his drawings and paintings. (Photorealism comes to mind when examining his drawings, the American dollar bill being one of his favorite subjects). His canvases have a strong graphic quality, combining a brilliant sense of color with a definitive, clear line.

The Little Buddha story was inspired by a remarkable line drawing that Pietro Salera created on a small easel, entitled the “Buddha board.”

The Little Buddha Book watercolors were completed by Pietro as a labor of love for this character.

Pietro Salera presently resides in Rome, Italy.

Jessica Csanky

Fine Artist & Illustrator

As a child, she spent long hours illustrating her own story books, especially those having to do with princesses.

Jessica Csanky, was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. It came as no surprise to Jess’ family that she became an artist, when at age three her aunt noticed Jess’ first surrealist illustration. As a child, she spent long hours illustrating her own story books, especially those having to do with princesses, all the while paying special attention to buttons, crowns and sparkles. Her love for art, illustration and storytelling would play an important role in her life and education, as Jess favored art and media classes from childhood through high school.

Jessica moved to Los Angeles, California to attend Loyola Marymount University. There she graduated with honors and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in film production and a minor in studio arts, using her time in film school to more comprehensively explore her artistic vision.

During her university years at Loyola Marymount, Jessica studied abroad in the Kansai region of Japan where she practiced daily the traditional art of Sumi-e brush painting. She incorporates these techniques into her contemporary artwork. During her university years and upon graduation, she taught art and film classes at The Digital Media Academy for children on the UCLA campus. She also assisted at The Children’s Art Studio in Santa Monica. She now resides in Santa Monica, California and works at a contemporary art gallery as a graphic designer, while maintaining her artistic practice independently.
