The Little Buddha & Children’s Book Author
Susan Dishell grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She studied literature and creative writing at the University of Michigan and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University. Susan has written many vivid tales and imaginative works. She is now ready to share the Little Buddha and send him out into the world.
During her long standing career as a fine arts dealer, Susan also became familiar with art and illustration made especially for children. The Little Buddha character originated out of Susan’s love and appreciation of this art form.
Susan’s focus in the fine arts is complimented by her interest in the performing arts. She has participated in both traditional and improvisational theater, and studied comedy writing at Second City and The Groundlings in Los Angeles. Susan has been a featured reader in academic environments and children’s reading groups.
In her career as a fine arts dealer and for personal adventure, Susan traveled extensively and lived abroad in England, France and Italy.
Having developed a strong interest in the subject of metaphysics, Susan began to study with a shaman and spiritual teacher in 1987. She has continued on her spiritual path exploring methods of energy healing, alternative medicine, spiritual advisement and self-actualization.
In short, a Jewish girl from the Midwest with an interest in Buddhism was blessed by Pope John Paul and ended up on an Ashram in India to meet with the Sai Baba, after study at Second City! Needless to say, there are some stories to be told. She hopes that you will share in her stories and enjoy the journey.
Susan currently lives in Santa Monica, CA with her favorite Little Buddha hanging upon the wall. Thank you for visiting.
